The King is Born

In 2007, I was asked to submit a song for the Christmas album Josh Groban was releasing later that year. As is often the case when my mind is consumed by a project, I woke up in the middle of the night with this melody in my head and I darted into my basement studio to record it. Within a half hour this song came to life. After some finishing touches from a friend and composer, Mark Mitchell, the song was complete.

I released it as a single a couple years later and as I originally wrote it for a male vocalist, I also have that option available to you (sung by Rob Boothe).

It never did get picked for Mister Groban's album, but I will forever be grateful to him because without that opportunity, "The King is Born" would not exist. I can share this song and its message with you.

Here's the performance by Kokopelli and Oran. They made some adjustments to the arrangement for this performance but the song was performed beautifully.

(Lead vocalist - Adam Rice. Conductor - Scott Leithead)

Full honors go to Christie Burnham for putting together this slide show to the song!
